Tire Recycling Pre-Processing Equipment

Heavy-Duty Tire Shredder Machines for Steel-Belted Waste Tire Recycling

Prepare waste tires for wire separation, further rubber sizing, pyrolysis, or tire-derived fuel production. Compare double shaft primary shredding for whole tires with single shaft secondary sizing for pre-cut rubber, based on tire dimensions, reinforcement, and the next process.

Whole tires or pre-cut rubber? The feed condition determines whether the job starts with primary tearing or controlled secondary sizing.
Define the next process Wire separation, granulation, pyrolysis, and fuel preparation require different feed conditions.

Your Tire Feed

Tire diameter is only part of the selection

A passenger tire, a truck tire, and a solid industrial tire can place very different loads on the cutters. Rubber elasticity, sidewall thickness, steel belts, and bead wire affect how the rotors grip and reduce the feed.

Start with the tire type and whether it arrives whole or pre-cut. For large OTR tires and reinforced rubber, the feeding method and any pre-cutting requirement need to be reviewed before selecting a machine.

Your Tire Feed selection guide
Your feedWhy it mattersWhat to evaluate
Passenger car tiresWhole, elastic rings need reliable engagement at the first stage.Tire diameter, whole or pre-cut feeding, and the next separation or sizing step.
Truck and bus tiresLarger dimensions and reinforcement change cutter and drive loading.Diameter, rubber thickness, steel content, and daily operating hours.
Agricultural and selected OTR tiresLarge dimensions alone do not establish whether whole-tire feeding is suitable.Maximum dimensions, construction, and whether pre-cutting is needed.
Solid industrial tires and reinforced rubberDense rubber and reinforcement create a different load from hollow tires.Cross-section, reinforcement, and feeding arrangement.
Pre-cut tire pieces, blocks, and sidewallsThe task may be secondary sizing rather than whole-tire reduction.Incoming piece size and the discharge required by downstream equipment.

Machine Selection

Choose the machine by the stage of tire processing

Whole-tire primary shredding and secondary rubber sizing solve different problems. Compare the feed entering each stage before choosing the chamber, cutters, and drive.

Whole-tire primary reduction

Heavy-Duty Double Shaft Tire Shredder

Twin rotors grip and tear bulky, elastic tire feed. Evaluate this arrangement for whole passenger and truck tires, mixed tire batches, and selected reinforced rubber. Tire dimensions and construction determine the feeding and drive configuration.

The Next Process

Work backward from the rubber recovery process

The shredder prepares material for the next operation. It does not replace wire separation or turn every tire directly into finished rubber granules.

Work backward from the rubber recovery process
Next stageWhat to define before selecting the shredder
Wire separationDefine the shredded feed and how released steel will be removed by downstream separation equipment.
Secondary sizing or granulationProvide the incoming size accepted by the next machine and the final rubber product you need.
Pyrolysis preparationConfirm the receiving equipment’s feed dimensions and handling requirements.
Tire-derived fuel preparationConfirm the receiving process’s requirements for particle size and remaining steel.

Final rubber size and steel content depend on the full processing route, including any further shredding, separation, and screening.

Already have a separator, granulator, or receiving process? Share its feed requirements so the shredding stages can be matched to it.

Structure and Operation

Match grip, drive load, and wear parts to tire construction

Review these features against your tire feed and operating schedule. They explain the configuration choices without assuming a fixed throughput for every tire type.

Rotor grip for elastic feed

Cutter engagement helps pull rebounding rubber into the cutting area. Tire form and reinforcement guide the rotor and cutter selection.

Drive selection for reinforced loads

Low-speed, high-torque drive options are evaluated with tire dimensions, steel content, and working hours so the drive matches the duty.

Wear parts planned for the feed

Blade material and thickness are selected around impact and wear conditions. DC53 and other alloy steel options can be evaluated according to tire type, steel content, and wear requirements. Discuss access to cutters and replaceable wear parts as part of the machine layout.

Overload response and line connections

PLC load monitoring and reverse control help respond to uneven feeding. Conveyor, magnetic separation, screening, and dust-control interfaces are reviewed for the complete line.

Start with your tires and the next process

A tire photo, approximate diameter, and a description of what happens after shredding are enough to begin. We can then clarify whole-tire feeding, pre-cutting, discharge, and capacity requirements.

Send photos or short videos through WhatsApp or email.

  • Tire type and whole or pre-cut condition
  • Approximate diameter and thickness, if known
  • Next process or required rubber product
  • Capacity and working hours, if known

Fields marked with * are required. Project details are optional; share what you know and we will help clarify the rest.

Frequently Asked Questions

Tire shredding questions

Can every tire be fed whole? +

No. Passenger tires, truck tires, large OTR tires, and solid tires have different dimensions and constructions. Whole-tire feeding and any pre-cutting requirement must be checked against the selected chamber, cutter, and drive arrangement.

Does a tire shredder also remove the steel wire? +

Shredding reduces the tire and can release steel for subsequent separation. Removing that steel requires the appropriate downstream equipment; the shredder alone does not establish the purity of the recovered rubber.

When is a single shaft machine considered? +

Evaluate it for pre-cut tire pieces, rubber blocks, or sidewalls when a later stage needs more controlled sizing. Its feeding system, rotor, knives, and screen should be selected for the actual rubber feed.

Can the same discharge serve granulation, pyrolysis, and fuel preparation? +

Do not assume the requirements are identical. Share the receiving equipment’s feed requirements so the shredding and separation stages can be planned for that route.

How is capacity assessed? +

Capacity depends on tire construction, incoming dimensions, output requirements, feeding, and the selected configuration. A machine power rating alone is not a throughput guarantee; provide your tire mix and target duty for assessment.

Which tires are you processing?
